Online Guided Imagery & Music for Asheville, NC

Depth-oriented music therapy for adults drawn to imagery, Jungian psychology, symbolism, dreams, spirituality, and inner work

Sound Space Collective offers online Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music sessions for adults in Asheville, Western North Carolina, and throughout NC.

This work may be a good fit if you are looking for something deeper than insight alone. Many people come to this kind of therapy after years of meaningful talk therapy, spiritual exploration, meditation, creative practice, grief work, trauma therapy, or personal growth. They may understand their patterns intellectually, but still feel that something unresolved lives beneath the surface.

The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music offers another way in.

Rather than relying only on conversation, sessions use carefully selected music, a relaxed state of awareness, and therapeutic guidance to help imagery, emotion, memory, body sensation, symbol, and insight unfold. The process can open material that is difficult to reach through words alone, including dreams, inner images, archetypal themes, spiritual questions, and unconscious patterns.

Sessions are offered remotely by Dean Quick, a board-certified music therapist and Fellow of the Association for Music & Imagery.

Depth therapy through music and imagery

Guided Imagery & Music is a form of depth-oriented therapy. It works with the inner life through image, sound, emotion, and symbol.

For people who are drawn to Jungian psychology, dream work, myth, spirituality, and the unconscious, this approach can feel familiar while still being very different from traditional talk therapy. The music often invites the psyche to speak in its own language: images, memories, landscapes, figures, colors, sensations, and symbolic encounters.

Some sessions may feel emotional and personal. Others may feel mythic, spiritual, body-based, relational, or imaginal. You may encounter grief, longing, fear, beauty, shadow material, unfinished memories, inner parts, or a sense of guidance from within.

The work is not about forcing meaning onto the experience. It is about listening carefully to what emerges and exploring how it connects to your life.

A non-substance pathway into altered states and inner exploration

Asheville has a strong culture of creativity, spirituality, holistic health, psychotherapy, body-based healing, meditation, and interest in expanded states of consciousness. The Bonny Method may be a strong fit for adults who are curious about deep inner work but want a grounded, legal, non-drug pathway.

This is not psychedelic therapy, and it does not involve substances.

It is a music-centered therapeutic process that can support access to non-ordinary states of consciousness through relaxation, music listening, imagery, and clinical guidance.

For some people, this work may feel connected to psychedelic integration, spiritual exploration, dream work, Jungian therapy, or transpersonal psychology. For others, it may be more about grief, trauma, anxiety, burnout, identity, or life transition.

The process meets each person differently.

What happens in an online session?

  • A Bonny Method session usually begins with conversation. We talk about what is present, what you are carrying, and what may be asking for attention.

  • From there, I guide you into a relaxed state of awareness. Once the music begins, you describe what you notice as the experience unfolds. This may include images, memories, emotions, physical sensations, colors, places, people, symbols, dreams, or shifts in perspective.

  • I stay with you throughout the process, offering support and reflection while allowing the music and imagery to lead.

  • After the music ends, we take time to explore what emerged. We may look at the emotional tone of the experience, the symbolic material, the role of the music, the connection to waking life, and what the imagery may be asking you to notice.

Online sessions are held through secure video. You will need a private space, a stable internet connection, and a way to listen to music with good sound quality.

Why work with a FAMI?

The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music is a specialized form of music-centered depth therapy that requires advanced training beyond standard music therapy certification.

Dean Quick is a Fellow of the Association for Music & Imagery, which means he has completed advanced training in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music. He is also a board-certified music therapist with extensive clinical experience supporting adults through cancer, grief, trauma, anxiety, life transitions, and questions of meaning.

This matters because deep imagery work needs to be held carefully. Music can open powerful emotional, symbolic, spiritual, and unconscious material. The role of the guide is to support the process with clinical grounding, attunement, and respect for what emerges.

Remote sessions for Asheville and Western North Carolina

Sound Space Collective does not currently have an office in Asheville. Sessions are offered online for adults located in Asheville, Western North Carolina, Charlotte, Lake Norman, and throughout North Carolina.

Remote work can be a strong fit for Guided Imagery & Music because the session happens in your own private space. Many people appreciate being able to remain in a familiar environment before and after deeper inner work.

If you are in Asheville and looking for depth therapy, guided imagery, music therapy, Jungian-oriented inner work, spiritual exploration, dream work, psychedelic integration support, or a non-substance approach to altered states of consciousness, online Bonny Method sessions may be a meaningful place to begin.

Is this therapy?

The Bonny Method of Guided Imagery & Music is a therapeutic process facilitated by a board-certified music therapist with advanced training in music and imagery. It is not a replacement for emergency mental health care, psychiatric treatment, or medical care.

Some people use this work as a primary therapeutic process. Others use it as an adjunct to existing therapy, spiritual direction, coaching, bodywork, creative practice, or psychedelic integration work.

If you already have a therapist, this work can often complement that relationship by offering another pathway into emotion, memory, symbolism, body awareness, and embodied insight.
